“Keys to the Presence” #1
July 17, 2007#1. Lift Him up.
Psalms 29:2 states:
“2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.”
Worship is a command. Psalms doesn’t say you may worship or you could. God made us to be worshipping people. Most people have no trouble worshipping movie stars or athletes or things. We need to look to God, not man or idols, or angles. We need to worship from the heart. It needs to be true, not rehearsed.
Psalms 98:4-6 states:
“4 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;
5 make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing,
6 with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—shout for joy before the LORD,the King.”
Worship should be loud, it should be joyous, and it should be musical. It can include clapping, shouting, singing, crying, and dancing. It is a celebration to the Lord. Worship can be done standing, walking, sitting, or kneeling. You could run the isles, reaching for the Lord. You are attracting God attention.
You may ask, why is worship loud? God knows it goes against our nature. It hurts our ears to be loud. We must get past ourselves to get into God’s presence. We don’t chose the path into God’s presence, God does. Once we get into His presence that is when we should show our reverence.
Praise and worship can open a door to God’s presence that can lead to blessing, guidance, joy, and a deeper sense of God. It’s not something we should do, but must do. Worship affects ourselves, and the people around us. It can strengthen the weak and silence our enemies.
